Yes Prihatin Offering Free Smartphone Mobile Data to B40 Families

YTL Communications has announced that Yes 4G is also offering subsidised data and smartphones in support of the government’s Jaringan Prihatin programme.

Unlike most offers under the programme, Yes is offering free smartphones and free data without contracts.

There are two Prihatin options available under the Yes Prihatin initiative.

  • Learn from the Home Family programme - eligible recipients will get a free smartphone, 30GB of data, RM50 Shopee voucher and free access to education applications for a period of 12 months.
  • Learn from Home Individual programme - comes with a similar offering but you’ll get 15GB of data which is also valid for 12 months.

To redeem, just sign up online and order your free Yes Prihatin SIM and plan. After registration, you can proceed to redeem the subsidy through the Yes app and complete the electronic Know Your Customer (eKYC) process.

Subscribers will get access to YTL Foundation’s Learn from Home content which includes 1,271 lessons across four core subjects such as Bahasa Malaysia, English, Mathematics and Science which are mapped against the national curriculum for Primary to Form 5. Since the launch of the Learn-From-Home programme in March 2020, YTL has distributed more than 18 million GB of free data, 450,000 free SIMs and 100,000 free phones.

During the announcement of the Yes Prihatin offering, YTL Communications Managing Director Dato Yeoh Seok Hong said “We welcome the opportunity to partner with the Government to serve the underserved B40 community.

Working with the Government we are able to multiply the impact of the Learn-From-Home free phone and data for B40 programme that we have been running with YTL Foundation since the beginning of the pandemic. Our aim is not just short-term relief, but to also create sustainable, long-term impact.”
